We have a wide range of activities here at Mount Cook for all levels of activity experience and a variety of ages. We sort our activities by the skill you will develop on each activity session. Offsite activities are provided in our beautiful local area by Acclimbatize.

Our 12 metre abseil point offers a new experience and personal challenge on a natural limestone rock face.

Archery

Our highly trained instructors will teach you how to successfully shoot a modern recurve bow from up to 10 metres away. This activity is a fantastic opportunity to learn a new skill whilst developing dexterity, precision and control.

Archery Tag

Archery tag is an exciting combat game which combines elements of dodge ball with the timeless skill of archery. Two teams must avoid being hit by flying foam-tipped arrows. If you're hit, then you're out!

Indoor Climbing

A great introduction to climbing, scaling our indoor version of Mount Cook the mountain will teach you some basic climbing techniques, how to tie the appropriate knots and how to belay for someone else.

Embark on a journey following in the footsteps of Hercules the divine hero in Greek mythology. Groups will follow a set of challenges to complete together.

Teams must work together to design and create their own Land Kart, using a selection of resources and materials, Once complete, the Land Kart is entered into the race where the whole team has to complete.

Onsite Orienteering

Our onsite orienteering sessions are a brilliant introduction to practical map reading and compass skills. Navigate yourself around the Centre's grounds from point to point using the tools you have.

Building on basic map skills, our offsite orienteering course takes you around our local area of black rock and the high peak trail. You will navigate from point to point using a variety of map reading techniques.

Prehistoric Campfire

During the evening campfire session participants will gain an understanding of prehistoric glue and what it would be used for. Crushing charcoal, preparing seeds/wool and heating of resin will create a thermoplastic glue.

Raft Building is a superb team building activity! Groups are required to work as a team to input design ideas, form a plan and create a buoyant raft using a selection of materials.

During the climb on this natural limestone rock face, groups will also learn knot tying and belaying.

Rock Climbing Offsite

You will be taught by our highly trained instructors how to put on a harness, the climbing knows and how to abseil down a rock face safely. Black Rock climbing area is a playground for lovers of Rock Climbing and Bouldering.
